What is Watsu and why should you try it?

January 24, 2019

The Watsu therapy was born in California in the 80’s from the union of the Japanese Shiatsu massage with the therapeutic effect of water. It is performed in warm water, and combines elements of massage, joint mobilization, muscle stretching and dance. The practitioner performs with one hand as he or she balances the recipient with the other. The receiver is continuously supported and floating effortlessly, receiving stretch and massage. Being held and manipulated while floating in water can be a profound experience. If you are feeling stressed, Watsu is exactly what you need to let go. It offers even more therapeutic benefits than other forms of land based bodywork such as:

– Calms the mind

– Reduces anxiety

– Increases self-awareness

– Increases peace of mind

– Promotes joint flexibility

– Improves circulation

Being held and manipulated while floating in water can be a profound experience. If you are feeling stressed, Watsu is exactly what you need to let go.
